Docker Deployment

Hibou provides a docker-compose.yml for development and small-scale deployments.

Service Image Port Purpose
postgres postgres:18 5432 Primary database
forgejo codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo:17 3000 Git forge (dev)
trivy aquasec/trivy:0.72.0 4954 Vulnerability scanner
Terminal window
# Start all services
make up
# Or directly:
docker compose up -d
Terminal window
make down
# Or:
docker compose down
Volume Purpose
pgdata PostgreSQL data persistence
forgejo-data Forgejo repositories and config

All services share the hibou Docker network. The Hibou server (run via make dev) connects to services at their container names:

  • Database: localhost:5432 (mapped from container)
  • Forgejo: localhost:3030
  • Trivy: localhost:4954

For production, build the Hibou binary and use the provided Dockerfile:

Terminal window
docker build -t hibou .

The production image is a minimal scratch-based container containing only the compiled binary and embedded frontend assets.

A Helm chart is available in chart/hibou/ for Kubernetes deployments. See the chart’s values.yaml for configuration options.
