Security Scans

Hibou performs security scans using Trivy and accepts results in SBOM and SARIF formats.

Scans are triggered automatically via webhooks:

Event Action
Push to default branch Full scan of the repository
Pull request opened/updated Scan of the PR branch

You can also upload scan results directly:

Terminal window
curl -X POST http://localhost:8585/api/v1/repos/{repo_id}/upload \
-H "Authorization: Bearer <token>" \
-F "type=sbom" \
-F "file=@sbom.json"

Supported formats: CycloneDX, SPDX.

SARIF (Static Analysis Results Interchange Format)

Section titled “SARIF (Static Analysis Results Interchange Format)”
Terminal window
curl -X POST http://localhost:8585/api/v1/repos/{repo_id}/upload \
-H "Authorization: Bearer <token>" \
-F "type=sarif" \
-F "file=@results.sarif"
Terminal window
curl -X POST http://localhost:8585/api/v1/repos/{repo_id}/upload \
-H "Authorization: Bearer <token>" \
-F "type=findings" \
-F "file=@findings.json"

After scanning a pull request, Hibou reports the result back to the forge as a commit status:

  • Success — No new critical/high vulnerabilities found
  • Failure — New vulnerabilities detected
  • Pending — Scan in progress

This integrates with forge branch protection rules to block merging vulnerable code.
